Cooper Island, located a short 6 nautical miles from The Moorings base at Road Town, is a beautiful island with a protected anchorage at Manchioneel Bay, and plenty of activities to offer. Ashore, Cooper Island Beach Club is the main attraction – a small resort with restaurant, rum bar, coffee shop, boutique, and lovely outdoor lounge area. The beach bar and lounge face west, making this the perfect place for enjoying a cocktail while watching a stunning Caribbean sunset. The beach and calm waters make Manchioneel Bay well-suited for water sports, and nearby Cistern Point offers excellent snorkeling and turtle watching.

bvi_flotilla_-_5_snorkel

Cooper Island has a good beach for swimming and watersports. Enjoy a meal at the Cooper Island Beach Club or shop at the Seagrape Boutique. Scuba buffs will want to check out Sail Caribbean Divers, which offers dive excursions for divers of all skill levels. Of special interest are dives on the HMS Rhone, a mail steamer sunk off the west end of nearby Salt Island during a hurricane in 1867. As is the case at Norman and Peter islands, a motorboat makes early evening rounds in the mooring fields, its cheerful crew offering a variety of provisions for sale, including freshly baked bread and pastries.

First stop, The Baths! This famous, awe-inspiring geological wonder is comprised of massive granite boulders that appear to tumble into the sea. Spend time exploring with a short hike to the restaurant and bar at the “Top of the Baths”, or discover the magical path leading through the boulders to Devil’s Bay. There are day-use moorings outside the baths for those who want to stop along the way. If you prefer to stay dry, sail to Leverick Bay where you can book a slip or pick up a mooring for an evening at Leverick Bay Resort, and take a taxi to the Baths.

bvi_flotilla_-_7_virgin_gorda

Spanish Town

The Baths Visit the famous Baths National Park, where volcanic action and coastal erosion have created a granite playground of pools, grottoes, arches, and caves. Suggested lunch spots: Top of the Baths restaurant.

bvi_flotilla_-_8_leverick_bay

Leverick Bay

Located at the northern end of Virgin Gorda, a large bay protected by islands and reefs all around. The resort at Leverick Bay offers a great overnight spot for yachtsmen. Leverick also has perhaps the best selection of available water sports, you can hire jet skis, jet boards, stand-up paddle boards, kayaks, or SNUBA- all from the beach. With plenty of restaurants nearby and taxis readily available, Leverick Bay is an ideal spot to explore Virgin Gorda.

Today is your day to shine. Put your sailing skills to the test and gain confidence on the water with your free sailing day. Choose a longer or shorter sail. Book a slip or pick up a mooring for an evening at The Bitter End Yacht Club, Saba Rock, or anchor at Trellis Bay for a more secluded evening under the stars.

bvi_flotilla_-_10_beyc

Bitter End Yacht Club

The Bitter End Yacht Club offers a full state-of the-art Marina and facilities. Facilities include restaurants, a ferry service (that can pick up guests from and/or drop them off at Leverick Bay or Saba Rock), water sports (Hobie Cats, Windsurfing, Kiteboarding, SUPs), beach games, comfortable beach seating (hammocks, loungers, and beach umbrellas), shops for provisioning, and a lovely boutique. Definitely worth a visit.

bvi_flotilla_-_11_saba_rock

Saba Rock

Saba Rock is a tiny island sitting astride the channel to Eustatia Island, between the Bitter End on Virgin Gorda and Prickly Pear Island. The island is home to a bar/restaurant and small hotel. This is also the perfect place to stop - the service station with technical support can help you with any questions. Be careful while approaching and stick to the channel marked.

bvi_flotilla_-_12_trellis_bay

Trellis Bay

Trellis Bay has an eclectic group of shops, restaurants and fun things to do, there is a funky artist culture/community reminiscent of the ‘60s or ‘70s here, but the bay is probably most well known for the fantastic Full Moon parties they host. A lot of hurricane-wrecked private boats are onshore here, but it somehow has only added to the charm of the place. There are a few moorings balls available, and the bay is usually relatively quiet, that is unless there’s a full moon party, and it would be recommend to arrive in plenty of time to ensure a spot.

Day 5

Jost Van Dyke

Adventurous sorts can hike into the tall, rainforest-covered hills behind Great Harbour.

Steeped in Pirate history, Norman Island is the perfect stop for yachtsmen seeking adventure and maybe even a little buried treasure! Visit the infamous Willy T bar for an evening of fun, or seek shelter from the Bight’s noise on anchor or on Kelly’s cove mooring buoys nearby. Snorkel the caves at Treasure Point and you’re likely to see a vast array of marine life, rumoured to be the spot where pirates hid their bounty, snorkel along the mouths of the four caves and you’ll spot an abundance of small colourful fish. If all the balls are taken, move along to Privateer Bay where you can anchor or pick up one of their balls and dinghy back.
