Mallorca

The crystal-clear waters of the Mallorcan coast were once popular amongst looting pirates who stowed their coveted treasures within the island’s calas. These spectacular tiny coves and hidden caves are now the destination for yachting enthusiasts to relish in sheltered anchorages and a wealth of wildlife from the Balearic lizard to loggerhead turtle.

Palma is Mallorca's bustling capital and greatest treasure. Rising in honey-colored stone from the broad Badia de Palma, the cosmopolitan city offers dramatic baroque architecture, vibrant nightlife, and delectable seafood-infused cuisine. You can wander in any direction from the awe-inspiring Gothic Catedral at Palma’s historical heart. Explore the city’s lively public squares, vibrant bohemian neighborhoods and local markets that overflow with island goods.

The park’s rich natural beauty is a relaxing setting away from hustle and bustle of larger islands, and it’s not uncommon to witness entire constellations at night due to the low levels of light pollution.

Sailing the Balearic Sea, stress-free

DO

  • Call ahead and book marinas in advance! In summer’s high season, the Balearic Islands are busier, and moorings are in short supply.
  • Opt for anchoring! Superb, sheltered anchorages are located in calas throughout the islands and act as a dreamy backdrop for an overnight stay.
  • Plan your trip between May and late September. Enjoy the best conditions later in the year to enjoy great weather while escaping the crowds!
  • Remember your camera – Stunning photo opportunities will leave you speechless.
  • Consider a skipper – Leave the duty of navigation and helming to a licensed Sunsail Skipper to enjoy more relaxation time.

DON’T

  • Anchor in marked swimming areas and Posidonia (seagrass) preservation areas. Thankfully, both are marked by buoys for visitors’ awareness.
  • Waste your precious vacation budget on expensive Ibiza marinas. The island is home to the most beautiful anchorages!
  • Book a Palma bareboat charter without sailing experience! You’ll need at least an ICC or an RYA Day Skipper qualification or above.
  • Rush! – Give yourself time to take in the Balearic Sea’s wonders and have your senses satiated.
